The Come-Back

What could be more reflective of the current planetary set-up than the Chilean miners released from the underworld? Venus retrograde in Scorpio is the signature of what rises to the surface, what comes back from a hidden place. For their re-connection, the miners even travelled in a capsule called Phoenix – the ultimate symbol of rising from the ashes. This human treasure – more precious than any other resource translated into pure joy. So touching and moving. During this Venus retrograde period in Scorpio which lasts until mid November we need to think about retrieval. Even Ryan O’Neal and Ali McGraw are re-living their cinematic and real-life Love Story these days.

Mystical Mystic

The lure of magical Mystic in Connecticut is irresistible to an astrologer like me.

So, on the US Memorial Weekend it was off to a little clapboard cottage on the beach to star-gaze and feel the wonderful tranquil serenity of the coastal water off Long Island Sound.

Long Island

It did not disappoint. Better still, Mystic has its own Planetarium which is small, but perfectly formed.

The Planetarium at Mystic

With Venus, Saturn and Mars visible in the night sky and Jupiter coming up around 3 am, not to mention the amazing Sagittarian Full Moon it was a wonderful sight. There is hardly any light pollution in the area, just the lights from the boats and a few houses so the planets and stars were sensational and accompanied by a resident orchestra of cicadas.

The beauitful view

The whole town is beautiful, charming and fixated by mermaids – and somehow here you can almost believe they exist! Then there’s the obligatory drop into Mystic Pizza made famous by Julia Roberts in the film of the same name and the Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream Parlour where you can indulge in pistachio and cashew nut ice-cream. What’s not to like!

Destiny of a Duchess

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York has definitely felt the arrival of Saturn in Libra over the past few months.

Sarah Ferguson caught in a 'sting'

She’s turned 50, lost her U.S. source of income, built up massive debt and caused a diplomatic incident over her Turkish TV documentary. Now she is the subject of a hugely embarrassing exposé for pocketing thousands of dollars in exchange for access to Prince Andrew.

Saturn is due back to Libra on July 21 when the karmic consequences will be made clear. The incident is brought to light on the Venus-Pluto opposition (falling directly on Fergie’s own Saturn in early Capricorn). This aspect is the chief undercover operator and dealer of dirty deeds.

When the Queen’s favourite daughter in law, Sophie Wessex was ‘stung’ by a British newspaper for the fake sheik debacle she was subsequently sheltered by the royal family. Fergie unfortunately is going to be hung out to dry – the royals’ modern equivalent of being hung, drawn and quartered.

Meanwhile at MOMA…

Marina Abramovic's exhibition at MOMA

An unmissable exhibition recently opened at the Museum of Modern Art involves sitting and staring at a performance artist. For as long as you want, or it takes. Just staring at them staring is quite surreal. Marina Abramovic is a Sagittarius with Mercury, Venus and Jupiter close together in Scorpio – she can spook anyone out.

An introduction to Marina's exhibition

Planetary and political tussles

With all the planetary tussles going on – Saturn opposing Jupiter and Uranus with Venus in between and then the Sun getting mixed up with Neptune its not much wonder we’ve got a coalition government in the UK.

Political and planetary tussles

Political and planetary tussles

As the impact of this dawns on everyone perhaps its as well to remember that oppositions themselves create TENSION. So with Cameron the Libran – known for diplomacy – fronting the thing coupled with a bit of Capricornian Clegg ambition thrown in this could be a good way to take things forward.

In our own lives just now – its bound to be a time of feeling pushed and pulled around. We need to look for our own coalitions…

Crazy Easter

Crazy Easter Parade on 5th Avenue.  This is not the usual floats and fandango viewed from behind someone’s back of the head, but a walk, mix and mingle affair.Everyone is strolling around in incredible hats aka Easter bonnets.  I’ve seen the sushi hat, the organic egg, the Mad Hatter, free range flowers.  It’s all here.  Including Michael Jackson who was parading outside Radio City Hall with all the other showgirls with deep voices.

Maybe it’s just the Venus and Mars vibe – it’s all pushing and pulling, see and be seen, cross-dressing, cross people and some very hot cross buns.
